A traditional country house renovated in a modern Japanese style. Here you can enjoy traditional o-banzai dishes prepared with local ingredients accompanied by rice cooked the old-fashioned way.
There are two types of rooms called Enishi and Hou. Designed with an emphasis on comfort: the walls and ceiling are coated with natural plaster and Temper beds ensure a deep sleep.

Soni Highlands Farm Garden. Opened in October 1999.
In the Pampas Grass Hall you can dine to great views of the Soni Highlands, eating dishes prepared with fresh local produce. You can also pick up from produces and other souvenirs at the farm shop.
Just off this is a small brewery, the ‘Wheat Hall’ where you can try their best selling Okuyamato beer. The Rice Hall houses a bakery that sells some breads made with rice flour. It’s the perfect place to stock up on hiking snack before heading to the highlands.
Famous for its curry and offal udon made with local fruits and vegetables. (Reservation required for vegan meals)
This local eatery & store is not only popular with tourists, but also beloved by locals. Alongside fan favorites like the homemade curry and offal udon are their dishes prepared but local vegetables. The dining floor looks out over the Soni river and at night you can enjoy a great view of the star-filled sky. In Summer you can make use of the BBQ. Large communal bathroom.

In a cosy corner in the foothills of Mt. Yoroi stands a charming country house. This house of fifty years was renovated and opened as Cafe Nekoron in April 2014.
Enjoy the homey atmosphere with the smell of baked goods and a cup of freshly ground coffee or seasonal herb tea. Browse the shelves for an old book to get lost in.
The owner is a warm, cat-loving lady whose love of cats can be seen in the cat-motif decorations scattered around the space. Don’t miss her baked goods and delicious lunch plate made brown rice and local produce.

Kintsuwa Shrine is quietly nestled in the mountains. This important site has long been the site of local traditions such as rice cake throwing as well as religious ceremonies. You can enjoy a spot of forest bathing as you breathe in the sweet forest air.
Halfway up the mountain is a clearing where you can enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Yoroi. Take in the beautiful scenery of Soni Village below from between the basalt pillars that make up the sheer rock face.

Hidarimakigaya are rare throughout Japan but on this site they grow in large numbers. Learn about Soni Village’s ‘superfood’: kayanomi (Japanese nutmeg), as well as its history in the village and modern uses. The rocks and mosses along the route are like something out of a storybook
