Chopsticks urushi coating experience & the urushi plantation

Coat your orginal chopsticks with urushi

[Chopsticks urushi coating experience & the urushi plantation]
Start from choosing your chopsticks from either Yoshino cedar or cypress.

Visit the urushi painter's workplace and the urushi tree plantation.
*Visiting sites will defer depending on the day.

*While we will provide gloves and take all precautions, please be aware that contact with urushi before it is completely dry can cause a skin irritation.

* The process of coating the chopsticks with urushi will be repeated for 4 to 5 times.
It will take a few days to dry out each layer so on the day of the experience, you will only be coating the first layer. Our staff member will be taking care of the rest of the process. After all the process is finished, and it is completely dry we will ship your chopsticks to the requested address (shipping fee is included.).

* Since the amount of lacquer collected from Soni Village is extremely rare, we will be using Chinese lacquer for the experience. The final coating will use the urushi produced in Soni Village.
We hope that you will learn about the current state of the Japanese lacquer industry through the efforts to revive the lacquer industry in Soni Village.

* Leaf-shaped chopstick rests are sold separately.
