Many gratitudes to the volunteers who helped us with planting the urushi baby trees in Soni Village for 2021. 200 trees were planted today, continuing from the 200 last year.

The baby trees will need special care and support for almost 15 to 20 years to grow big enough for urushi sapping.

The “Yamato urushi project”, aims on protecting the japanese culture and art of producing urushi(lacquer saps) by starting from planting the lacquer trees up to providing it as a coating for japanese traditional art crafts. The village will continue to act on this project untill the trees grow into a urushi forest and start circulating as a material
for restoring Japanese cultural properties.
